Cleaning Methods for Technological Devices

19/03/2020 Epidemiology

Ing. Ricardo Segovia Villanueva.

These devices are crucial in our daily lives and are an important vehicle of infection if we do not clean them appropriately and disinfected.

The issue here is that the traditional forms of disinfection are not safe due to the fact the regular cleansing involves water and other substances that may affect the correct function of the equipment.

The answer is simple, clean with a single product: Isopropyl alcohol. The alcohol we all know is the one called “Ethyl Alcohol,” and you can buy it in any drugstore, but Isopropyl alcohol a different type. It is used in some industries due to its disinfectant and cleansing properties.

Characteristics:

  • Clear
  • It has a signature odor.
  • Highly Flammable.
  • Quick Evaporation.

Isopropyl Alcohol can be used on almost all technological devices since it efficiently eradicates dirt, disinfecting as well. Also, thanks to its quicks evaporation, there are no water residues.

How to clean my devices?

Materials:

  1. Isopropyl Alcohol
  2. Use an atomizing spray
  3. Cleansing towels

Cleansing Process:

  1. Spray the isopropyl alcohol directly and evenly on a cleansing cloth.
  2. Clean the equipment gently with the cloth, taking care not to press the keys (if your device has them). It is not necessary to disconnect the equipment.
  3. You can use a cotton swab in places with difficult access, always keeping in mind not to tear the cotton, so there are no residues.
  4. Repeat the process:
  5. In devices used by several people, or with high-usage (such as cell phones), do this 3 to 4 times a day.
  6. In single-user or devices that you do not use constantly, 1 to 2 times a day.

Devices you can clean with this technique

  • Computer keyboards
  • Laptops
  • Mouse
  • Mobiles
  • Tablets
  • Calculators.

Cautions

  • Do not drink.
  • Avoid contact with eyes, nose, ears, and other sensitive body parts.
  • Although its odor is not aggressive, it should always be used in a ventilated area, as it can cause headaches if it is constantly inhaled.
  • Highly flammable, so you should not apply it or handle it near a flame.
