Atention Protocol

UPDATE

Today (March 24, 2020) Mexico has been declared as a country with phase 2:

Epidemic

It is extremely important to renforce and strengthen the actual protocols, in order to avoid more cases.

In case you need medical attention, you should call the following number, 800 0044 800 and let them know that you have a suspicion that you may have COVID-19.

---------------------------------------------------------------

You can do our test online from your home, so you can know if you need to go to a hospital.

The definition of a suspicion case, includes:

A person of any age that in the last 10 days has shown one of the following signs and symptoms: cough, fever, dificulty breathing or headache*

*In children under five years old, a headache can come accompanied by irritability.

The symptoms above must come with one of the following:

  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Loss of smell
  • Loss of taste
  • Chills
  • Pain when swallowing
  • Nasal dripping
  • Conjunctivitis

Currently having a fever above 100.4°F or 38°C or more.

Contingency plan for hospital attention

We have designated specific areas to take care of people who have respiratory disease symptoms; each medical unit of Costamed Medical Group has determined a particular area. These attention units have clear signs outside each hospital directing to the entrance of the unit, and staff will also be ready to lead you to the proper area if you cannot find it.

We have named that area as “Respiratory Disease Special Atention Unit” and it consists of a consultation room, a vital signs room and a waiting room. All of these are restricted from other areas of the hospital.

Once in the area, the patient will first consult with a physician who depending on symptoms and background, will determine the appropriate treatment according to diagnosis. The doctor could send you home with medication to treat the symptoms, or you may have to stay for a follow-up or other lab tests.

The general suggestion when seeking medical help is:

Keep calm and visit one of our hospitals.

Going to the Hospital

On your way, consider the following:

  •  Do not touch other people
  •  If you sneeze or cough, cover your mouth with a disposable handkerchief or with the crook of your elbow.
  •  Use hand disinfectant before touching any surface.
  •  Use a mouth cover in case of not having one, ask for one once you get to the hospital.
  •  Consider that in the waiting room, there should be no more than ten people, only come accompanied if you need help to move or if you are a legal guardian for a minor who needs medical attention.
