Control and Intervention Scenarios

The Health Department has established three scenarios or phases in managing the COVID-19 outbreak

  • Viral Importation
  • Community Spread
  • Epidemic

Today (April 21, 2020) Mexico has been declared as a country with phase 3

Epidemic

The quarantine is fundamental to reduce the infection amoung the population. Health experts recommend that it lasts no least than 14 days. Two weeks provides enough time to know whether or not the people will become ill and be contagious to other people, even if they are asyntomatic.

People who have been exposed to the new coronavirus and who are at risk for coming down with COVID-19 might practice self-quarantine. Health experts recommend that self-quarantine lasts 14 days. Two weeks provides enough time for them to know whether or not they will become ill and be contagious to other people.

Self-quarantine involves:

  •  Staying at home
  •  Using standard hygiene and washing hands frequently
  •  Not sharing things like towels and utensils
  •  Not having visitors
  •  Staying at least 6 feet away from other people in your household

Once your quarantine period has ended, if you do not have symptoms, follow Goverment's and your doctor’s instructions on how to return to your normal routine, if it is possible and it does not represents a risk for your health.
