For direct payments Costamed Medical Group accepts most international and national insurance companies , provided that the procedure is approved, and we receive a payment guarantee letter before you are discharged. Complete insurance information must be filled out during your admission process, this is required every time we confirm we have an agreement with your insurance.

We will normally receive confirmation of your insurance coverage by fax or e mail within 24 hours of your arrival.

Our Patient Services Department will help you with every aspect of your visit. We specialize in working with your insurance company, care assistance company or claims agent concerning approval of the security payment for hospitalization expenses (excluding personal expenses.)

At Costamed Medical Group Hospitals we can virtually process any international insurance as we have the support of an International Collection office which, according to international insurance management, gives us the approval to start the coverage process, in addition to providing advice to carry out the necessary procedures.

Considerations

  • In case you do not submit a letter of guarantee from your insurance company, another form deposit will be required; for instance, a credit card voucher while the Hospital received your insurance documents.
  • Due to different circumstances, there may be delays in confirming your insurance coverage, such as:
  • Verification process of each insurance company.
  • There was not enough time to process the application, because the hospital stay was too short.
  • Time zone difference.
  • Weekends or holidays.
  • Preexisting conditions and/or exclusions.
  • Terms and conditions of your policy.
  • Outpatient or follow-up treatments.
  • Should there be any delay and payment guarantee documents from your insurance company are not received before you are discharged, you will be asked to settle the total bill by cash or credit card, and you will be given your entire file so you may ask your to be fully reimbursed by your insurance company.
  • At the time of your discharge you must pay the additional expenses. There may be some charges you might have incurred into and will therefore be asked to pay, such as medical expenses or a room rate that is over the allowable limit, as well as personal expenses. In this case, it is the patient’s responsibility to pay the deductible and coinsurance as indicated by patient’s policy.
  • We do not accept government, veteran’s or Social Security benefits.
  • We will not process any insurance claim if you have already been discharged from the hospital.

Considerations for International Insurance

  • If you are not insured, you are responsible for the Hospital bill.
  • In this case, outpatients we prefer advance payments.
  • The Hospital will prepare a medical report and an invoice so you may process the refund directly from your insurer when you return home.
  • We have patients from all over the world with different insurance policies and different coverages. We help our patients coordinate with their insurance providers to secure payment on their behalf.
  • In most cases we can get the payment guarantee from our patient’s insurance companies. However, there are some circumstances beyond our control such as the extent of the insurance coverage which may prevent authorization, such as:
  • Not enough time to process the application because the hospital stay was too short.
  • Time zone difference.
  • Preexisting conditions and/or exclusions.
  • Terms and conditions of your policy
  • Outpatient or follow-up treatments
  • Follow-up processing or doctor ‘s consults at the hotel.
  • Request made after patient has been discharged.
  • You may contact your agent or insurer directly for authorization before you arrive to the hospital. This will help speed up the claim authorization process.
