We know that a hospital stay can be a stressful or even frightening time. We also know that family and friends play an important role in every patient's recovery.
That's why at Costamed hospitals, we aim to strike the right balance between the patient's rest and time with loved ones. Our staff will work with you and your family to coordinate visits, so everyone can spend time with the patient in a calm, organized way.
At a glance: patients in their rooms may receive visitors every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with up to 2 visitors at a time. A registered caregiver may stay with the patient 24 hours a day. Restricted visiting hours apply only to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Patients staying in a hospital room may receive visitors every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Up to 2 visitors are allowed in the room at a time during these hours. In addition, one person designated as the patient's caregiver may stay with the patient around the clock.
Please keep in mind:
Only one visitor at a time is allowed in the ICU. Visiting hours depend on the visitation level assigned to each patient:
The attending physician determines each ICU patient's visitation level. You will be informed of it either by the attending physician or by our Patient Services team.
When needed, the attending physician may also set special visiting hours.
Only one person may stay with the patient overnight. This person is called the caregiver and has 24-hour access to the hospital.
For the caregiver to stay:
In the ICU, the instructions of the attending physician and the unit's staff apply.
All visitors, as well as the caregiver, must present a photo ID when registering at the reception desk.
Per hospital policy, and to protect patient safety and prevent the spread of infection, children under 12 are not permitted as visitors.
An exception may be made when all of the following apply:
When a child visits the hospital, our priority is their well-being and safety, and also making their visit a positive experience.
For patient safety and infection control, the following items are not allowed in the hospital:
Smoking and vaping are also prohibited inside the hospital.
In the ICU, the use of cell phones, cameras, tablets, and other electronic devices requires authorization from the attending physician. The physician evaluates each case based on the patient's condition and may allow their use for therapeutic purposes or to support family connection.
Per hospital policy and for patient safety, outside food is not allowed in patient care areas.
Each patient's meals are planned according to their physician's instructions.
If your loved one is having a surgical procedure, we ask that you remain in the patient's room while they are taken to the operating room, and wait there.
Once the procedure is complete, the physician will update you in person or by phone.
Our Patient Services team can help with questions about visiting hours, caregiver registration, visits by children, and any special circumstances during your loved one's stay.
Family members and visitors are welcome to eat at the hospital cafeteria, open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
