How to prevent Cervical Cancer?

The best strategy to prevent cervical cancer is routine screening and the human papillomavirus vaccine.

  • Human papillomavirus vaccine. The vaccine reduces the risk of contracting HPV, it is important to discuss with your doctor if you are a candidate for this vaccine.
  • Routine Pap smears. The Pap smear is a laboratory test performed by a gynecologist who takes a lab sample from the cervix. It is taken to the laboratory to identify precancerous conditions.

It is recommended to start these studies from the beginning of sexual life, or from the age of 21, and repeat them at least every year.

  • Avoid/Stop Smoking. Smoking is unhealthy for your overall health; avoid it at all costs.
